Perched high, overlooking the vines, the village of Vaux en Beaujolais was made famous by Gabriel Chevalier who, inspired by the daily life of the people wrote his best selling novel here: ‘Clochemerle’, hence the second name of the village.
The pôle Oeno-Touristique helps you to discover or rediscover today the story of the novel while wandering through the village. You can see the famous urinal and mechanical theatre, the museum dedicated to the author Gabriel Chevallier and the Clochemerle wine bar (‘la cave’ or ‘caveau’). |
