The Chef

His passion for cooking was what led him to work in the kitchens of some highly prestigious establishments, where he learnt the ropes: Romain Barthe was awarded his first Michelin star in 2012 at the Auberge de Clochemerle, after learning his trade at the side of Gilles Blandin in L’Epine, Michel Troisgros in Roanne, and Chef De Courten at the "Le Terminus" restaurant in Switzerland.

Named as "Chef Espoir" in 2011, Romain Barthe holds seasonal produce close to his heart, and brings creativity, colours and flavours to the dishes he creates from it.

Our dining room's elegant and refined atmosphere provide the perfect conditions in which to discover our chef's dishes. This bright, spacious and smart dining room boats a mix of modern décor and classic charm.

The restaurant at the Auberge de Clochemerle exudes an atmosphere that is both convivial and discreet, and a muted ambiance, ideal for enjoyable moments of culinary discovery.

The hosts' table in the kitchens offers our guests a unique experience: enjoy lunch or dinner (two to five guests) behind the scenes during one of our services, and savour the dishes as you chat to our chef and his team.

Chef Romain Barthe's respect for his raw ingredients, when combined with his inventive recipes, produces dishes with unique tastes and perfumes.

At the Auberge de Clochemerle, you will discover "surprise menus" in constant evolution according to the available produce, the season and the chef's creative whims. You are sure to be astonished by his dishes, which will take you to the heart of a unique culinary universe.

Food and wine pairings

You are sure to be won over by the food and wine pairings offered at the Auberge de Clochemerle. The restaurant's cellar is stocked with wines from all over France, and particularly showcases Beaujolais wines from local grape varieties.

Delphine Barthe, the restaurant's hostess who was born here in the region, will be able to suggest the perfect accompaniments to your dishes. As the granddaughter of wine growers, she trained as a sommelier before working at several prestigious establishments (Albert Ier in Chamonix, Rosalp in Verbier, Switzerland and Lisita in Nîmes).

She will be only too happy to share her passion with you and introduce you to some exceptional wines, the ideal pairings to our chef's dishes for gourmet meals that will delight even the most epicurean of guests!
